Originally from Piha, New Zealand, we are two young Kiwis travelling the world.

We met at 17 & 19; at the time, I (Kate) was a lifeguard, and Toby was a surfer…it’s already starting to sound like a movie! We both went to university, where I studied Marine Biology, and Toby studied Geoscience. Soon after, we moved in together, and the rest is history.

We travelled all over the world from Indonesia to Europe, making the most of every university break and student loan payment. During this time, we started a real fruit ice cream business with two of our buddies in our hometown. This was such a hit that we spent the next 3 years building and selling thousands of ice creams to the tourists and locals who couldn’t get enough.

In 2023, we headed off for a 5-week quick Euro summer trip, where Toby asked me to marry him! The day we landed home from that trip, we went straight to our lawyers to sign the papers to buy our house. The next 2 years were spent renovating, travelling, surfing, hanging out with friends, working (shocker?!), and wedding planning! We had a secret small family ceremony in 2024 so we could be legally married ahead of our ‘official’ wedding in 2025.

In a whirlwind 6 weeks, we got married in March, and by the end of April, we were getting ready to move to the UK! We rented out our house, moved our cats in with Toby’s mum, and ran away from any expectations… We’ve now spent the last 14 months travelling all over England, with multiple trips to Scotland, Italy, Morocco, France, Portugal, and Spain.
